I think there is a little mistake on the website. Here, https://prosody.im/doc/configure it says that password are stored Defaults to "internal_plain". Here too: https://prosody.im/doc/plain_or_hashed But here https://prosody.im/doc/authentication it says default is authentication = "internal_hashed" .
